The biggest thing to ever hit cruising is coming in January 2024, when Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas—which will be the largest cruise ship in the world—will debut to passengers for the first time.
It can carry 5,610 passengers at double occupancy (two passengers per cabin) or up to 7,600 passengers at maximum occupancy, plus 2,350 crew members. These stats make it the largest ship in the world. That's larger than fleetmate Wonder of the Seas, the 2023 record holder for the world's largest cruise ship.
The 20-floor ship will boast eight different neighborhoods, including Thrill Island, Chill Island, Central Park, Royal Promenade, and The Hideaway. All are aimed at providing different experiences for guests. The ship will also house seven pools and six water slides, creating the largest waterpark at sea.
Icon of the Seas offers more ways to chill than any other ship – with 7 pools to choose from including the largest pool at sea, the first suspended infinity pool at sea, and the first swim-up bar in the fleet, Swim & Tonic.
The first ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet to be powered by cleaner-burning liquified natural gas, Icon of the Seas has innovation at every corner, including the multilevel kinetic art Sphere
Icon of the Seas is also much longer at 1,198 feet, compared to Titanic, at 822.5 feet.
