Marella Explorer 2 Lost its Anchor due to storm

The Marella Explorer 2 - part of the TUI fleet - lost its anchor last night (January 19) during the extreme weather.

''The anchor will be recovered and an investigation will be completed before it’s reinstated to the ship.

Formerly Celebrity Century and SkySea Golden Era, The Marella Explorer 2 is the newest ship within the TUI fleet.

The 14-deck ship has 907 cabins, nine bars and nine restaurants.

The Marella Explorer 2 features a golf themed bar called ‘The 19th Hole’, with a golf simulator – ‘Flutes’ a Champagne bar, and ‘Cove’ a restaurant with a BBQ inspired menu.

The ship also features quirky swinging seats and numerous verandas, where you can enjoy far-reaching sea views.

It was one of first, later of many, cruise ships that suffered a reported outbreak of coronavirus earlier this year.
