- only enter unoccupled enclosed spaces after the most thorough checks and using only the approved company procedtures
- Delay entry into an enclosed space if any ot the provisions in your companys procedures cannot De met. Only enter once the provislon can be met.
- Make sure that there Is continuous ventilation as long as anyone is in an enclosed Space.
- Always use full breathing apparatus when rescuing an unconsclous person from an etnciosed space.
- For the sake of safety, ensure good housekeeping. proper maintenance of mechanical equipment and regular inspections for leaks everywhere on board
- but especially in the pump room.
- Ensure pump room ventilation is fully operational and continuous during cargo operations.
- Check electrical equipment lor intact insulation before use.
- Clear all leaks as soon as possible
- Be aware of all the safety regulations and restrictions, particulary with regards to smoking material, and including mobile phones, Pagers and cameras.
- Avold breathing cargo vapours
- Cargo vapour can get anywhere so always work on the assumpon that vapour is near you on Deck.
- Make sure that all visitors to the ship are also aware of these regulations and restrictions.
- Make sure that any hot work conforms precisely to the permit to work issued for It. The restrictions must be followed to the letter.
- Follow proper procedures if you Come across a fire - raise the alarm and try to contain the fire but aways be prepared to escape to safer area.
- Ensure that evryone wear Footwear and other PPE at all times. This will provide the first line of Defence against the most common accidents which are slips, falls and cuts.
- Remember your training and dont forget to take the timings to follow the correct procedures whatever task you are doing.
